OPERATIONS IN KURDISTAN WITH OMV AVA S.p.A. Awarded Contract by OMV for Drilling Fluid Services on the BINA BAWI #3 well in Kurdistan AVA S.p.A. has been awarded its first drilling fluids contract in Kurdistan, participating with OMV on the BINA BAWI #3 well. OMV has been active in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq since 2007, with operations starting in 2008. The Kurdistan Region of Iraq offers world class opportunities for oil and gas exploration and has huge untapped reserves rivaled by very few places in the world. The Bina Bawi 3 exploration well was spudded in January 2011. Kurdistan is central to AVA’s expansion plans in the region; going forward the company plans to expand existing warehouse capacity and is in discussions with other operators to provide services on upcoming projects.
