SUCCESSFUL FLEXDRILL WELL - OFFSHORE TUNISIA The first use of Flexdrill in Tunisia helped contributes to a 25% reduction in the drilling curve. The previous offset well had utilized a polymer mud system supplemented with lubricant. Due to reactive shale formations, problems were experienced in the 12 ¼” and 8 ½” sections with sloughing shale and high torque and drag. The operator was looking for a system that would give them the inhibition needed to maintain a stable well bore and reduce their overall drilling curve. Ava proposed a Flexdrill system with the primary components consisting of 7% Avapolyoil and 2% Avasilix. The system provided significantly improved inhibition and hole stability while controlling fluid costs, and played a role in allowing the operator to cut 10 days from the previous well in the same field. |
